A Little Bit Freaking Out...

So I'm in a slight bit of panic mode. I REALLY REALLY REALLY need your prayers to help me rely on God right now. I'm rather worried about finals and the lack of studying despite my best efforts. Add onto that the Rummage Sale stress - we've still not finalized a summer storage location and likely just loss the use of one of our trucks. I don't want to fail!! I don't want the rummage sale to fail!! HELP!

Dead Week

So it's dead week, which basically means nothing other than "week before finals". It really doesn't feel like finals are next week. Perhaps I should be glad that I'm not freaking out, but perhaps I should also be a bit concerned that I am not in hyperactive finals study mode. There are so many things going on besides my classes, though! For example, as the newly elected CVF President, I have a rummage sale to organize - it's tough to arrange for collection of donated rummage when I still haven't heard back from my landlord about storage of the stuff over the summer... I also have the D-PIKE program to prepare for (I found out Wed. that I will officially be doing that this summer). Also, I have a sick rabbit to take care of. That is a whole long story in itself, but I'll sum it up by saying this: Gwennie has snuffles (rabbit sinus infection), so I have to give antibiotics twice a day, supplemental force feedings, and sometimes a digestive stimulant, and while at the vet to get these, I found out that my rabbit who I was told was a girl and have believed was a girl for almost 10 years is, in fact, a boy. Yeah, some exotics vet I'M going to be... Umm, so I guess my big prayer requests right now are for the rummage sale (especially storage and vehicle issues), finals and final projects, and my bunny's health.

On a brighter note, Ryan came to visit me this weekend!! It was a really beautiful weekend to relax together. Ice Age 2 is pretty good, in case you were wondering. That will have to do it for now, 'cause I'm tired!

HE IS RISEN!!

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!

So in Psalm 96:7-9 it says:
"Ascribe to the Lord, O families of nations,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
bring an offering and come into his courts.
Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness;
tremble before him, all the earth."

And when I read that, I was like "Hmmm... what exactly does 'ascribe' mean?" And here's what I found: "to explain as arising from a particular cause, source, or origin: attribute." How perfect is that? The Lord is the source of strength and glory!! I just thought that was cool. Hope your day was spent in wonderful worship of our risen Savior!!

Time to Breathe

So I survived the past two weeks, as expected. Finally, I have no more real exams until finals! So far the results from this latest stretch have been pretty good, too. Virology was tough, but not impossible, and the Anesthesia quiz was extremely fair. I have commented to several people that I find it a bit creepy that some of my best grades come out of the worst exam schedules. However, it probably shouldn't surprise me, because that's when I spend more time relying on God to get me through. :-p I am still having issues sleeping - now they're more because I'm sick, though. Not sure if it's allergies (there's gotta be tons of pollen with all the great weather we're having), or if I caught one of the nasty things going around my class. Hopefully a weekend of rest will have me feeling better. I can stay away from school the whole weekend without any guilt! It's so exciting!! However, I'll probably do a little studying on Sunday just to keep up. Just a lab "final" for surgery and an assignment for Public Health to work on for the next two weeks. Although, I suppose I should not slack off, 'cause then comes "Four Days of Terror" (aka finals), but I'll deal with that later.

Hard to believe (although the weather has made it clear) that summer is almost here! I still am not 100% certain what I'll be doing, but I have a pretty good idea. I applied for a new program called D-PIKE, which stands for Dairy Production Immersive Knowledge Experince, I think - it's at least close to that. I have to set up an interview for Wed. next week and then expect that I will hear if I'm accepted for sure shortly thereafter. Many of you may be thinking: "But Beth, you don't want to be a cow vet!" And I would have to agree with you wholeheartedly. Not that I dislike them - cows are cool. Unfortunately, they do not test you on just what you intend to do in practice either in vet school or on licensing boards. (Turns out for many people to be a good thing, as they end up doing very different things than they originally planned.) Therefore, in light of my lack of experience with large animals, I wanted to do something to reconcile that this summer. My original plan to follow around Dr. Johnson fell through, and the D-PIKE program was brought to my attention as a good alternative. It pays for our housing and food and travel expenses, so I wouldn't be out any money, either. So hopefully that works out.

Oh, and I finally couldn't take it anymore and printed out some pictures and instructions on how to load a dishwasher. I even wrote a whole page of additional comments on how I knew I was like Adrian Monk, but I felt it was something I needed to address. Thankfully when she discovered it, she took it extremely well and was not in the least bit upset. I think it may mean that I do most of the loading of the dishwasher, but I'm fine with that - I gave that as an option. So yes, my neurotic frustrations with the dishwasher being loaded "wrong" may be at an end. At least I really really hope so... We shall see!

Prayers Needed!!

Hey, gang - this is a prayer SOS. I'm in the midst of the next to last exam stretch of the semester and it's getting very draining. Tomorrow is the third Public Health exam. I didn't do so well on the last one even thought I felt comfortable with the material, so I need this one to go well. However, studying for it (and my general apathy after a less than encouraging talk with the instructor) has hampered studying efforts for Thursday's third Virology exam. Thursday night is CVF potluck and officer elections, so I will have next to no time to study for Anesthesiology quiz #4 on Friday morning. Basically I need grace to have the former go well and a miracle to have the latter two not be a disaster. I also need to get some sleep - things beyond my control (noise/wierd dreams/inapparent other things) keep getting in the way of this (either keeping me awake or waking me up at all hours), and it's really taking a toll on me. The Lord was already very faithful with at least one of last week's exams (other results are pending), so I know I can rely on Him as always. Thanks in advance for your prayer support!
